Microsoft Dynamics AX to SAP ERP Migration Program

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive Data Migration & BI Consultant to join a strategic ERP transformation program involving the migration from Microsoft Dynamics AX to SAP ERP.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the quality, accuracy, and successful migration of business-critical data while also supporting the design and implementation of modern data warehousing and business intelligence capabilities. This position requires a strong combination of business engagement, analytical capabilities, data mapping expertise, data warehousing knowledge, and technical understanding.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working with both business stakeholders and technical teams to translate business requirements into effective data migration, reporting, and analytics solutions. The candidate will contribute to the definition of data models, ETL/ELT processes, reporting datasets, and governance practices that enable high-quality analytical insights throughout and beyond the ERP transformation.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate workshops and meetings with business stakeholders to gather, challenge, and validate data migration and reporting requirements.
• Analyze source data structures in Microsoft Dynamics AX and define mapping rules towards SAP.
• Create, maintain, and validate detailed data mapping specifications and transformation rules.
• Identify data quality issues and collaborate with business users to resolve them.
• Act as the primary liaison between business teams, developers, and project stakeholders.
• Communicate business requirements and mapping specifications clearly to technical teams.
• Support the design, testing, and execution of data migration activities.
• Perform data analysis, reconciliation, and validation activities throughout the migration lifecycle.
• Contribute to data cleansing initiatives and support cutover preparation and execution.
• Ensure migration-related documentation is maintained throughout the project.
• Design and support Data Warehouse solutions to enable reporting, analytics, and business intelligence requirements.
• Translate business requirements into dimensional data models following Kimball methodology principles.
• Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT processes using Microsoft Fabric.
• Support the implementation of Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, and OneLake architectures within Microsoft Fabric.
• Define and maintain fact and dimension models to support enterprise reporting and analytics.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify KPIs, reporting requirements, and analytical use cases.
• Support the creation and validation of Power BI semantic models and reporting datasets.
• Ensure data consistency, lineage, traceability, and governance across operational and analytical platforms.
• Perform reconciliation and validation between source systems, migration environments, SAP, and reporting layers.
• Contribute to best practices, standards, and governance frameworks related to data migration, analytics, and reporting.

Technical Skills

Data Migration & Analysis

• Experience in data migration, business analysis, data analysis, or ERP implementation projects.
• Strong experience in defining and documenting data mappings.
• Good understanding of ETL/ELT and data transformation concepts.
• Solid SQL knowledge and experience querying relational databases.
• Experience analyzing data quality issues and defining remediation actions.
• Experience with data reconciliation, validation, and testing activities.

Data Warehousing & Business Intelligence

• Strong understanding of Data Warehousing concepts and best practices.
• Experience with dimensional modelling and Kimball methodology.
• Proven experience designing Star Schema and Snowflake data models.
• Experience defining and implementing fact tables, dimension tables, surrogate keys, and slowly changing dimensions.
• Ability to translate business reporting requirements into scalable analytical data models.
• Understanding of modern analytical architectures and enterprise reporting frameworks.

Microsoft Fabric & Analytics

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience with Fabric Data Factory, Dataflows, Lakehouse and Warehouse.
• Experience developing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines within Microsoft Fabric.
• Understanding of Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers).
• Knowledge of Power BI semantic models, datasets, and reporting best practices.
• Familiarity with data governance, lineage, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.

Languages

• Fluent English is mandatory (written and spoken).
• Dutch is considered a strong asset but is not required.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX.
• Knowledge of the Dynamics AX data model.
• Experience with SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA projects.
• Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), including maintaining or developing ETL packages.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric end-to-end analytical solutions.
• Experience building enterprise Data Warehouse solutions.
• Experience with Power BI data modelling, DAX, and reporting.
• Knowledge of Azure Data Platform services.
• Understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) and Data Governance principles.
• Experience in large-scale ERP transformation programs.
• Knowledge of SAP reporting structures and SAP analytical integrations.

Preferred Background

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Business Engineering, Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in data migration, data analysis, business intelligence, data warehousing, or ERP-related projects.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Data Warehousing, and analytical data modelling is highly desirable.
• Experience within Microsoft Dynamics AX environments is a significant advantage.
• Experience working in ERP transformation programs involving SAP, Dynamics AX, or comparable enterprise platforms.
